                 Apple Cinnamon Waffles with Cider Syrup

  2 1/4           cups  Original Bisquick
  1 1/4           cups  milk
  2        tablespoons  sugar
  2        tablespoons  vegetable oil
  1           teaspoon  ground cinnamon
  1                     egg
     1/2           cup  finely chopped cooking apple
                        --Cider Syrup--
  1                cup  sugar
  3        tablespoons  Original Bisquick
  1           teaspoon  ground cinnamon
  2               cups  apple cider
  2        tablespoons  lemon juice
     1/4           cup  margarine or butter

Make Cider Syrup (below);  keep warm.  Heat waffle iron; grease if necessary.
Stir remaining ingredients except apple in large bowl until blended.  Stir in
apple.

Pour batter by slightly less than 1 cupfuls onto center of hot waffle iron.

Bake until steaming stops and waffle is golden brown.  Carefully remove
waffle.  Serve with syrup.  Twelve 4-inch waffles.

Cider Syrup Directions:

Mix sugar, Bisquick and cinnamon in 2-quart saucepan.  Stir in cider and
lemon juice.  Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture
thickens and boils.  Boil and stir 1 minute; remove from heat.  Stir in
margarine.

High Altitude (3500-6500 ft):  No changes.

NOTES : Substitution:  Apple juice can be substituted for the apple cider in
the syrup.

Sucess Hint:  Preheating the waffle iron to the correct temperature is
important to prevent waffles from sticking.  Do not lift the top of the
waffle iron until the steaming slows.  If a waffle does stick, disconnect the
iron, open the grides and allow to cool.  Remove any remaining waffles.

Time-Saver:  Freeze any left over waffles, then reheat in the microwave or
pop'em in the toaster for another meal.
