Orange Sunshine Cake

3/4 C (8) egg yolks
2/3 C sugar
1 tsp grated orange peel
1/2 C orange Juice
1 C sifted cake flour
1 C (8) egg whites
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 C sugar

Preheat oven to 325°   Beat egg yolks till thick and lemon-colored;
gradually add 2/3 C sugar, beating till thick.   Combine orange peel and
juice; add to egg mixture alternating with cake flour.  Beat egg whites
with cream of tartar and salt till soft peaks form. Gradually add 2/3 C
sugar, beating till stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the egg yolk
mixture. Bake in an UNGREASED 10" tube pan for about 1 hour and 10 to 15
minutes. Invert and cool.

To frost:

7 Minute Orange Frosting

2 unbeaten egg whites
1 1/2 C sugar
2 tsp light corn syrup
OR 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
1/3 C orange juice
1-2 tsp grated orange peel
dash of salt

Place all ingredients except orange peel in top of double boiler (don't
place over boiling water yet);  beat 30 sec. at low speed to blend.
Place over boiling water, but not touching water.  Cook, beating
constantly, till frosting forms stiff peaks, about 7 minutes (don't
overcook).  Remove from boiling water.  Pour into mixing bowl and add
the orange peel; beat till of spreading consistency, about 2 minutes.
Frosts sides and top of cake.
