Old Fashioned Holiday Fudge

2 Cups sugar
2 Tablespoons cocoa
Dash of salt
2/3 cup evaporated milk
2 or 3 chocolate bars (I use Hershey plain)
1 Cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1 Tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In medium saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa, salt and milk. Cook over
low heat, stirring constantly until mixture reaches Soft Ball stage on
thermometer, about 7 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate
bars, nuts, butter and vanilla. Beat with wooden spoon until creamy
and mixture becomes shiny, (about 5 minutes). Pour into well buttered
8x8" pan and cool. Cut into 1 inch squares and store in covered
container in refrigerator. Makes 64 pieces.
