Norma's White Pie

1 baked pie shell
3/4 c sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch plus enough flour to make 1/2 cup
2 cups milk

Cook stirring until thickened. Add vanilla. Cool. Beat 2 egg whites, add 
1/2 cup of sugar and fold into above mixture.  Can add a little coconut.
Top with whipped cream or Cool Whip. Refrigerate.
